Did you know that the money and time people spend on looking good is at an all-time high?
Of course, that makes sense. I want to look the best I possibly can, and so does everyone else. If you find this relatable, you’ve probably spent a ton of money on extravagant beauty products for skin rejuvenation.
But after getting mediocre results from everything you’ve tried so far, are you ready for something new? Something that’s not only effective but also inexpensive.
If you want to look good on the outside, you need to be healthy and well on the inside as well. What better way to stay healthy on the inside than yoga?
Contrary to what I used to believe, yoga is not just a bunch of stretching and breathing exercises to make you more flexible. Yoga also has a wide range of physical health benefits that can make your skin glow like no other commercial creams or serums can.
The ancient Ayurvedic custom links yoga with beautiful skin for several reasons. You already know how stress can impact your skin. A well-known breathing meditation within yoga has been shown to balance your mind and body, alleviating the stressors that cause acne.
After all, acne and other skin problems are caused due to imbalances in your body, and yoga practices do a terrific job of bringing you back to balance.
Yoga has also been shown to reverse the process of aging (1).
Here’s a list of 8 yoga poses to get rid of acne and get glowing skin:
1. Cobra Pose
This pose is an easy yoga pose for beginners that will help you reduce stiffness in the back and shoulders, elevate your mood, and make your skin smooth.
Start by lying flat on your belly, placing your palms under the shoulders, and pushing your torso upwards till your hips are slightly off the ground. While keeping your feet stretched and your back arched, direct your gaze upwards.
Yoga tip – This pose this part of the Surya Namaskar, but it can also be done on its own.
2. Fish Pose
By enabling deep breathing, this asana will help you normalize hormonal imbalance and relax your muscles. It will also make your skin firm and more flexible.
Start on your back and lift your chest and back by propping yourself on your elbows and drawing back your shoulders. Finally, stretch your neck and point the crown of your head towards the ground.
Yoga tip – Keep your elbows parallel to each other and hold onto your hips for extra support.
3. Shoulder Stand Pose
This yoga pose for glowing skin helps get rid of dullness and makes you feel energized by supplying blood to your head. The increased blood circulation also helps tackle acne and pimples.
Start by comfortably lying down on your back and bringing both your legs together. Then, slowly lift your legs up and point them towards the sky. Push your hips forward until your chest is closer to your chin to complete this pose.
Yoga tip – When bringing your body back to its initial pose, bend your knees rather than keeping them straight.
4. Plow Pose
This inverted pose improves balance and increases blood circulation to the face and head, which results in glowing skin.
Start from the shoulder stand pose mentioned above and slightly lower your back to improve balance. Slowly bring your legs over your head till your toes are touching the floor. Then, interlock your fingers and stretch your arms down onto the floor.
Yoga tip – This is an advanced pose, so don’t worry if you’re not able to do it. Instead of touching your toes to the floor, try to take them as close as possible.
5. Child Pose
This relaxing pose increases blood circulation in the head and helps relieve stress. If you’re feeling weary after a long day, this asana is the perfect way to feel rejuvenated and make your skin glow.
Start by kneeling on the floor with your toes together and your knees hip-width apart. Rest your hips on your heels and your palms on top of your thighs. Exhale and lower your torso between your knees. Extend your arms alongside your torso with your palms facing down.
Yoga tip – Keep your shoulders relaxed and rest in this pose as long as you need.
6. Wheel Pose
Backbend yoga poses for glowing skin such as these not only increase the flexibility of your spine, but they also improve blood circulation throughout the body. This asana can also improve your digestive health.
Start in a standing position and push your hips and abdomen forward. Slowly start arching your back and drop your neck back while keeping your hands raised upwards. Once you’ve arched your back enough to see the floor beneath you, bend your knees slowly till your palms are touching the floor.
Yoga tip – If you are having trouble balancing yourself in this pose, ask someone to support you by placing their hands under your back while you arch backward.
7. Triangle Pose
This pose increases the flow of blood and oxygen to your face by opening up your lungs and chest, resulting in more radiant, glowing skin.
Start in a standing position, spread your feet 3 to 4 feet apart, and raise your arms parallel to the floor. Turn your left foot slightly to the right and your right foot out to 90 degrees.
Turn your right thigh outward and extend your torso to the right directly over your right leg. Rest your right hand on your shin or ankle, and stretch your left arm toward the ceiling.
Yoga tip – Keep your head relaxed during this pose and gaze towards your left thumb. Additionally, bend from your hip joint, not the waist.
8. Lotus Pose
The lotus pose is one of the most well-known asanas in the Hatha Yoga tradition. This cross-legged meditation pose will help you control your breathing using the pranayama techniques and help eliminate toxins from your body.
Start in the cross-legged position with one foot placed on top of the thigh of the other leg. The other foot is similarly placed on the opposing thigh. Along with fighting acne, this pose will also improve the absorption of nutrients.
Yoga tip – When you place your feet on your thighs, your soles should face upwards, and your heel should be as close to the abdomen as possible.
Do these poses every day and hold each pose for as long as you feel comfortable. These poses will help you feel refreshed and regain a youthful glow in your skin.
